Biography: Maryam Karimian
Maryam Karimian was born in 1979 in Tehran, Iran where she continues to live and work. She got a BA in painting in 2003 from the Azad University of Tehran. Karimian has participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions. Through her creativity and technique Karimian draws forth the facial expressions of her women with the same fluidity as Schubert composes his Quintets which Karimian is so inspired by. Like the Quintets her forms are simultaneously sprightly, flexible and at times tender and malleable. Karimian's mind, eyes and hands work together to give expression to the meditative creativity of her imagination. Her means, colored ink, sings forth the abstract transience so much a part of the identity of her women as they gaze at the mystery of life. She has mastered the use of vivid colors and the delicate expression of refinement indigenous to the miniatures of her motherland. Her inquiring mind and observing eye are clearly visible in the minute expression of the movements on the faces of her women.
