Biography: Saloumeh Golnaraghi
Born in 1988 in Iran, Saloumeh Golnaraghi got her degree in art from the Tehran Azad University of Fine Arts. Over the past five years Gonaraghi has had numerous group and solo exhibitions in Iran. She has also participated in several exhibitions in which she has won national awards such as the first prize in the Saba Exhibition of Still Life in 2005. Saloumeh Gonaraghi brings about the same feelings in her viewers as she herself has once experienced. She uses her own type of simplicity in her forms and a certain crudeness in her colors which are reminiscent of Paul Cezanne. Like him, she strives to present a very different reality to the viewer than the one that is normally seen and she lends herself to a daring use of color in this attempt. Thus is she able to render the ordinary into the extraordinary. Golnaraghi uses pure colors in order to draw out the lights she so loves to play with: lights that simultaneously warm the viewer and yet lead him to a different understanding of the mundane. Golnaraghi’s subject matter is only an excuse for evoking various feelings in her viewers. Her lines blend in with her colors to raise us from the world of tedious everyday objects to a captivating understanding of the moment tasted and then captured by the painter. Saloumeh Golnaraghi is presently living and working in Tehran.
